Toxic Clouds and Cyberflowers
2 May - 14 May 1999
Toxic Clouds and Cyberflowers is Helen Britton’s Masters degree graduation exhibition.
Britton has taken everyday, discarded materials and crafted them into a series of almost seventy small jewellery items, resulting in an eclectic mix of objects made from plastic, silver, glass and precious stones. She embraces both traditional craft materials and techniques as well as digital design methods.
Her works reveal the way in which crafted objects can operate on multiple levels- aesthetic, conceptual and critical.
There is an optimism in Britton’s reconsumption of commercial and domestic rubbish to produce objects which delight and engage the viewer.
